Carousel Pavilion & Museum Update January 2021
Borough Council on January 20, 2021, awarded a preliminary contract to Marion, Ohio based, Carousels & Carvings, Inc. for the partial cost of repairing and refurbishing the Dr. Floyd L. Moreland Dentzel/Looff Carousel. The Council also introduced a bond ordinance in the amount of $750,000 that will provide temporary financing of the $750,000 grant that was awarded by the NJ Historic Trust. The grant reimburses expenditures up to the grant award. It is anticipated that the carousel will be delivered to Ohio in March or April with work commencing some time in the third quarter of 2021. Although a completion date is unknown at this time it is anticipated that the carousel will be reassembled in its new home on the Boardwalk Promenade in time for a grand opening between spring and fall 2022.
Carousel Pavilion project contractor, Epic Management LLC, recently accepted delivery of the steel that is being used for constructing the carousel rotunda. Substantial work has already been completed on the west wing of the building.
