The Borough of Seaside Heights owns and operates the electric utility for Seaside Heights. The electric department consists of a crew of three workers who maintain the towns entire electrical system and one office worker.

CURRENT CHARGES FOR ELECTRIC KILOWATT HOURS ARE 20 CENTS. A kilowatt hour is one turn of the number on your electric meter.

How the bill is charged, in a general example…

There is a minimum charge of $5.00 on meter with 10 kwh’s or less. If there is usage the following rates are in effect: (ex. 500 kwh’s)

    500 -10 = 490
    490 x .20 = $98.00
    + base $5.00 = $103.00 total bill

The Electric Department also installs and maintains floodlights. Wattage and monthly rates as follows: Watt Monthly Rate Reconnection Fee

    150: $22.00 $198.00
    250: $28.00 $252.00
    400: $38.00 $342.00
    1000: $50.00 $450.00

There is a way to pay online through your bank. The banks MUST differentiate between electric payments and water/sewer payments, that MUST BE SEPARATE, as they are placed into different accounts. ALSO the full account number, including the preceeding letter, MUST appear on each bank check payment and the check must indicate whether the payment is electric or water & sewer.

Check payments can be sent to: Electric Utility P.O. Box 38 Seaside Heights, N.J. 08751. Checks can be made payable to “Borough of Seaside Heights” ALSO the full account number, including the preceeding letter, MUST appear on each check in the memo section.
