Mayor Bill Akers has just advised the POA of the following news and strongly recommends that you take immediate action:
NEW FEMA HAZARD MITIGATION PROGRAM
A new Fema Mitigation Program will be a competitive program and limited statewide. There is no criteria or funding priorities at this time. Funding will be contingent on town being approved for funding, and it is anticipated that it will be 6 months before grant funds are available.
The program is designed to assist homeowners who wish to raise their homes to meet the new Fema Base Flood Elevation (BFE) Map standards. MOREOVER, THIS PROGRAM IS NOT LIMITED TO PRIMARY RESIDENCE.
A property owner will be limited to 75% grant funding by FEMA, homeowners pay 25%.
Even if a homeowner received FEMA ICC $30,000 grants, they can still apply for this new grant and use the ICC funds as part of the homeowner’s matching funds.
- These funds are not available for demolition or rebuilding.
- No property owner is eligible for reimbursement if work has already been performed.
- Approval for funding must be granted in advance of any construction.
